Sharp has announced the Zaurus SL-5600, an update to the existing SL-5500 Linux PDA. The SL-5600 is very similar to the SL-5500, with the major difference being an upgraded processor.
The SL-5600 will run on a 400 MHz XScale Processor. It will have 32 MB of SDRAM and 64 MB of Flash memory. The Zaurus will feature a 3.5" transflective TFT display. Memory expansion is allowed via the built in CF and SD slots. The battery. Power for the device comes by way of a removable, rechargeable 1700mAH Li-ION battery that Sharp says is the biggest battery in any smart handheld device.
The SL-5600 will continue to feature the hide-away keyboard that is exposed by sliding the bottom portion of the housing down. This is similar to the design which is now being used in Palm's Tungsten T handheld.
The SL-5600 should be available early in 2003.
