How to unsubscribe from The Daily on the iPad

How To - By: pdaBlast! Staff - June 14, 2011

I've been reading "The Daily" on my iPad for a few weeks now and I'm not really impressed. This app received a huge amount of press as the first iPad-only newspaper, but since then the reviews haven't been so favorable.

At first glance the app seems very slick, but it's not all that impressive once you start to use it. The UI is flashy, but weird. The content is okay, but you can get the same news with the free USATODAY app.

The Daily takes a long time to update the app each day, especially if you're using hotel wifi. When you want to save an article for offline reading you have to save each page of a multipage article separately because there is no option for "save entire article."

Now that I've decided to dump The Daily, I tried to unsubscribe but there is no unsubscribe option in the app. Instead, Apple makes you go through its Settings icon to unsubscribe. Here are the steps:

1. From the home screen, click the Settings icon.
2. Scroll down and click the Store icon on the left side.
3. Click "View Apple ID."
4. Enter your Apple ID Password
5. Scroll down and look for "Manage App Subscriptions."
6. Look for The Daily and turn off the switch for "Auto-Renewal."

That's it.
