WhatsApp ends support for BlackBerry and Windows Phone
By: Tom Manning - January 03, 2018

WhatsApp is moving on from BlackBerry and Windows Phone. The company announced it will no longer support the older platforms, including BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, and Windows Phone 8. The world has largely moved on from these platforms and WhatsApp finally cut them off.

The company released the news in a support note:

"These platforms don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer OS version, or to a newer Android running OS 4.0+, iPhone running iOS 7+, or Windows Phone 8.1+ so that you can continue using WhatsApp."

There is apparently no way to transfer your chat history to a new platform, although you can attach it to an email. If you are still using a BB or Windows Phone, you will need to find a new messenger.
