BlackBerry escaped death and is confident of survival
By: Tom Manning - February 03, 2017

BlackBerry is still alive even though it's a completely different company now. CEO John Chen has performed an incredible feat of keeping the company alive when everyone said it was dead. BlackBerry will no longer be a top smartphone maker, but they will live to perhaps see a second act.

The company has pivoted from hardware into software. They now outsource their hardware manufacturing and have pivoted to software an IoT. According to John Chen, he is no longer afraid of the death of BlackBerry. They will make it.

Addressing a group of industry and financial analysts this January, John Chen said “We’ve come from a near death experience. I’m here to tell you that we’re no longer dead or afraid of being dead.”

According to Forbes, Chen's words appear to be accurate. Forbes lays out the path BlackBerry took and where they are going in IoT. John Chen deserves a ton of credit for saving a company that should have gone the way of Palm, Inc.

It's an interesting read.
